Buthaina Al Bussar is an Accredited Social Worker, Counsellor, and Lecturer with over 15 years of experience in the fields of social work, mental health, and education across both Australian and international contexts. She holds a Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying) and a Master of Advanced Social Work Practice from Charles Sturt University. Her academic background also includes qualifications in sociology, education, and neuro-linguistic programming, with degrees earned in both Syria and Australia.
Buthaina has worked in various roles across the health and community services sector, including international humanitarian organizations such as the United Nations. Her practice experience spans trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, family violence, and culturally responsive mental health support. She has also contributed to social work education through curriculum development, assessment moderation, and teaching postgraduate and undergraduate students in social work theory and practice.
Fluent in both English and Arabic, Buthaina brings a strong cross-cultural perspective to her teaching.
