Dr Rose Leontini is a qualified sociologist who teaches and conducts research in the areas of health, human services, alcohol use and professionalism. She has published work on higher education learning and teaching, youth and alcohol, social and ethical implications of presymptomatic genetic testing, public health ethics and mental health education. With many years’ experience teaching in higher education institutions including University of NSW, University of Sydney and several private providers, she has acquired a deep understanding of the academic needs, goals and challenges of students, and has developed novel strategies for assessing and supporting students’ learning. She has been a member of several boards and committees, including the Huntington’s Disease Association (NSW), learning and teaching committees at major universities, and HRECs.
Outside her academic role, Rose contributes to research through publications and her membership in Human Research Ethics Committees (HREC), pursues her love of animals by volunteering in a community-based animal shelter, and channels her daydreaming through creative writing.
