The GDBA is designed with content and learning activities that engage with advanced knowledge and inquiry consistent with AQF Level 8 Learning Outcomes.     

  • Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental business principles and concepts in managing business. 
  • Apply analytical skills to analyse business issues by investigating complex information and concepts and applying established theories to different bodies of knowledge. 
  • Demonstrate written, oral, and interpersonal communication required to manage and lead contemporary business. 
  • Demonstrate the application of problem-solving knowledge and skills, creativity to make evidence-based decisions in professional practice with personal autonomy and accountability. 
  • Apply a body of knowledge that includes the understanding of recent developments of sustainability to effectively tackle emerging global business trends and challenges. 
  • Demonstrate teamwork and collaborative skills required to achieve desired business outcomes with creativity and initiative. 
  • Use cognitive skills to critique a range of contemporary social, economic, political, and cultural factors affecting contemporary business, reflecting critically on theory and professional practice or scholarship. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to reflect on one's capacity for personal accountability and leadership, with the skills to generate and evaluate complex ideas and concepts at an abstract level. 


Modes of Delivery  

The course will be delivered by face-to-face lectures supplemented with online materials through Moodle (NAPS eLearning) to be accessible on and off campus. There will be 3-hours of face-to-face teaching per week for all units, consisting of 2 hours of lectures and 1 hour of tutorials, with each class being 50 minutes per teaching time and a 10-minute break per hour. Delivery will further include online activities—discussion groups, seminars, webinars etc to take advantage of expertise outside that we can bring into the classroom. This mode of delivery will enrich student experience and engagement and provide opportunities for developing skills and engaging with content. It will also maximise lecturer-student interaction and facilitate students’ achievements of learning outcomes. Being on campus would enable students to access campus resources such as the library and internet to aid their learning

Classes will comprise lectures, seminar-type discussions, and presentations. Students will be required to complete essential reading and any related assigned tasks before each class in order to be able to participate fully in discussions. Lecturers will use electronic presentations whenever possible.

All students must have been formally admitted to the Academy before commencing their degree program. Admission to the course is based upon the ATAR and NAPS’ Admissions Policy.  

To be admitted to the post graduate NAPS GDBA program, a student must meet the following criteria: 

  • An undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent) in a business discipline 

or 

  • An undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent) in Any discipline and relevant work experience in a role that requires some supervisory and/or discretionary decision-making responsibility 

or 

  • Previous admission to or the subsequent completion of at least one semester of an AQF level 9 or equivalent course holding a Graduate Certificate of Management. 

 

Students with Disabilities or Special needs  

Students with disabilities or special needs will not be excluded based on pre-judgements about their ability to meet with the demands of the course. The same conditions and procedures apply to the admissions of students with a disability as to all other students, however NAPS fosters an environment of inclusiveness so special measures are provided to support their learning when required and discussed as part of the admission process. (See NAPS Access and Equity Policy). 

 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Students  

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can apply for the MIT through a specialised pathway. Beyond allowing students to be assessed on their formal qualifications, this admission pathway takes into account other important factors such as life experiences and transferrable skills. 

 

Mature Age Applicants  

A student who does not meet the standard ‘academic’ criteria may apply for admission as a mature age applicant if they satisfy one of the below requirements: 

Are 21 years of age or older on 1st March of the year, they intend to commence study and have completed a vocational training course and have been assessed by the Dean or nominee to be able to undertake postgraduate studies 

or 

Have at least 3 years of industry experience in supervisory capacity in either public, private, not-for profit sectors and have been assessed by the Dean or nominee to be able to undertake postgraduate studies. 

 

English Language Requirements  

The medium of instruction in the Academy is English. All students are therefore required to demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in the English language to qualify for admission. 

The following criteria apply: 

  • Students from Australian local institutions must have completed at least a Higher School Certificate or equivalent from overseas.
  • Mature students from English speaking countries must pass an English language proficiency interview conducted by the Dean or nominee.
  • For students from non-English speaking countries who apply onshore or directly from their home countries, the condition of admission is an IELTS (Academic) test with a minimum score of 6.5 with no sub-band score less than 6.0 or equivalent in TOFEL or other accredited English language test program provided an accredited supplier of such tests.

Students who do not meet the minimum English Language requirement may be permitted to enrol after successful completion of an appropriate English for Academic Purposes program accredited and approved by NAPS. 

When an IELTS score or equivalent is used to demonstrate English proficiency, that score must have been attained within two years of the date of application for admission. 

On completion, the aim is for NAPS GDBA, graduates to develop careers as Managers, Leaders, and Administrators in the future in the private, public, not for profit sectors 

To graduate with a Graduate Diploma, students must successfully complete the first 8 core subjects.

The tuition fee for the Master of Business Administration is $AU 13,000 per trimester.
