Dr Sanson is an experienced academic and international humanitarian practitioner who also specialises in teaching and education. Dr Sanson has a PhD, a Master of Education in Adult Education, as well as a Bachelor of Business (Marketing and Management) and Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours. She combines legal and advisory work in conflict, crisis and disaster settings with teaching and curriculum development roles. She is the author or co-author of five books on various areas of law.

Dr Sanson entered academia from legal practice and has an ongoing role as Adjunct Fellow at Western Sydney University. During her time at the University of Technology, Sydney she served as Director of Undergraduate Programs. She also served for some years as Editor in Chief of the Legal Education Review and on the Executive of the Australasian Law Teachers Association, plus on the Board of Directors and the Academic Board for several private providers.
